Watching my Neighbor Total their Car with Tickets
Uploaded on August 25, 2025
I've been taking pictures of my neighbor getting tickets. On my block there is street sweeping every Monday Wednesday and Friday at 6AM. There is also a tow zone at the end of the block. On Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday evening it's easy to get a spot on the block because people don't want to wake up at 6 to move their car. This means that my neighbor who has no fear of tickets always gets a nice spot.
Their tickets almost certainly cost more than the price of the car. If they get towed their car is totaled. It's sort of like watching a car crash in slow motion. Here's a collection of photographs of this car getting tickets.
Update – Feb 20, 2026
I was going to wrap this photo series up by placing a fake ticket on their (this person was definitely they/them coded) car that looked like this:
But I hesitated because its fucking crazy. If the start of a correspondence necessitates leading with "I'm not stalking you, I promise" maybe you shouldn't initiate that correspondence.
But then the car stopped showing up. I wonder if they sold it. If they did, I congratulate them, and also feel bad for them. If they decide to stay in California (likely that they don't, the car had Washington plates), it'll be a pain in the ass to ever register another car with the state of California.
I looked up their plates on the SFMTA website and they have ~$17,000 in unpaid tickets.
Kelley Blue Book lists a 150k mile 2007 Subaru Outback with cosmetic issues at 2500-3200 USD. Subaru Outbacks that I see listed on Craigslist go for around $5500. This bitch is totaled.
