June has been great! I’ve spent most of the month traveling.

The month started out with me doing a ton of drawing which doesn’t always feel like the best use of time – it’s labor intensive. It takes me a long time to creatre these cartoons, although I’ve been trying out drawing, painting, and then inking, as opposed to drawing, inking, painting, and then re-inking. It feels kind of worse but it allows me to have higher output.

I made a visit to Apex Surplus when I was still in LA. It’s a magical store with all kinds of shit in it.. mostly electronics and metal.. feels like a resource that would allow you to do anything, create anything with it. The question, as always, is what? Maybe a plane..

I made a website to raffle off shoes for Arbi at Transport Skate on Eagle Rock, and finished Yves’ portfolio website. I want to make more websites for people. Started talking to Alex about making his website also. Been coding less, but seemingly have higher output..

Took a 5 day trip to New York that I loved. Stayed with Jarobi and Teal for 5 days in Washington Heights and got to see Elizabeth and some other friends while I was up there. I was skateboarding, I worked a little bit, but mostly just hanging and taking in Manhattan. Got really excited about Manhattan, and the idea of living there.

After New York I took the Amtrak to Pittsburgh. I stayed with my friend Cam and hung out with him for a day. He likes building software and skateparks. He skateboards and has a grown up job just like me.

I loved Pittsburgh – it feels like what I imagine a rust belt San Francisco before tech changed SF would be like.

From Pittsburgh I flew back to Chicago, which is where I’m writing this from. My sister and nephew came into town too and I got to spend time with them and my parents. I’m still staying with my parents which feels a little stuffy and makes it hard to get work done. I am in the crib.

I’ve been skateboarding and hanging with friends and doing some reading. I’ve been connecting with people over technology – I went to a tech conference and a DADS presentation.
